Our commitment to keeping the young people we serve safe is always our number one priority. Following the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak, it’s important that you know the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bay City and Matagorda County is doing everything possible to keep your child, our staff and volunteers protected from its spread. We are also closely monitoring reports from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and our local health department for all updated information.
We recognize the need for the Club, but we feel it is our duty to the community to help slow the spread of COVID-19, and as our local school districts have announced closures, our Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to close to ensure the health and safety of your children, staff, and their families have to take priority. Until then, we will be addressing proper handwashing with our staff, deep cleaning each area and provide additional virtual staff training. We will be including reminders in our weekly communications with parents and staff. There will be flyers displayed throughout the Clubs that remind members to wash their hands prior to reopening.
As a reminder, we recommend these preventive actions every family should take to prevent exposure to COVID-19.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
Stay home when you are sick – please review our sick policy. Any child who has symptoms will be sent home.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
